How does a tuberculosis test work?
TB tests work by testing your body's immune response to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis. In a TB skin test, a small amount of tuberculin is injected into the skin. If you have been exposed to the bacteria, a hard, raised red bump will form at the injection site. TB blood tests measure how the immune system reacts to the bacteria in the blood.
